Nerja, Malaga

Nerja

This charming andalusian village has maintained its attractiveness in spite of growing numbers of foreign residents and tourists, due to the fact that the local authorities adhere strictly to building regulations.

Situated 50 km east from Malaga and with the mountains of Sierra Almijara breaking off into the Mediterranean Sea, which give Nerja a special natural environment, similar to the granadian coast, with cliffs, caves and little bays, but with sand instead of pebbles.

Most popular in Nerja are the "Balcón de Europa", literally a kind of balcony, hanging over cliffs and beaches, to enjoy the fantastic views and the Nerja caves, with Paleolithic paintings and large stalactites and stalagmites.
